5 things to see in Moscow
With the arrival of the new year a good purpose can be to plan the holidays of 2017. And if you are going to do it, don't miss out on this post where we recommend some of the best things to visit in the Russian capital.
The Red Square
The Red Square is located in the center of Moscow. Since Ivan the Great destroyed the wooden houses that were located in this area to improve the protection of the Kremlin, the square has been used for various purposes: as a shooting field, as a market square, to hold public ceremonies and even concerts in the last years.
Around the Red Square you will find the GUM (a large department store created in Soviet times in which the world's leading brands are still sold, as well as restaurants and cinemas), St. Basil's Cathedral (an orthodox temple known almost everywhere as the emblem of the city), the State Museum of History (where important pieces of the history of the country are exposed from the prehistory to the XXth century), the Mausoleum of Lenin (where its mummified body and the tombs of Russian military and presidents are) and the Kremlin (composed of several buildings, cathedrals and other spaces where the government building stands out).
Moscow Metro
The Moscow Metro is not just a quick way to get around the city, it is another tourist attraction. Some of its stations are spaces where you can enjoy paintings, mosaics and sculptures as if you were in a museum scattered throughout the city. And if you are one of those persons who get lost in the subway, don't worry, there are guided tours that will make it very easy.
The Gorky Park
This park is located on the banks of the Moldova River. It is a fairly large extension that in its beginnings was destined to the access to the entertainment and the culture of the working classes. Today it is a park with multiple spaces to enjoy: bicycle and skating rental services, an amusement park, sports facilities, lakes for a boat ride, cafes and restaurants, as well as ice rink in winter and urban beaches in summer. A place to enjoy as a couple, with friends or family.
The Bolshoi Theater
It is one of the most important theaters in the world. Whether you like opera or ballet or you are not the biggest fan, we recommend you to buy an entrance and enjoy the show, the building, the decoration, ... As it was remodeled in the early 2000s to give it back the splendor from the time of its construction. A way to transport you to the Russia of the nineteenth century.
Museum of Cosmonautics
This museum is dedicated to explain the Russian space race and the space exploration almost from its beginnings. You will find exposed parts of ships, objects of space, space suits and audiovisual material. There is also a cafe where you can relax during your visit. In the exterior of the museum it is the Monument to the Conquerors of Space, with more than 100 meters high.
If we have already encouraged you and you are going to start planning your trip, remember that you will need Russian Rubles in order to pay your expenses in cash. You can buy the Russian Rubles that you need for your trip right now on our website and so you can focus on enjoying your stay.
Have a good trip!
