The currency of Ukraine, known as the hryvnia (Гривня in Ukrainian), is the official currency of the country and plays a fundamental role in the Ukrainian economy. This currency has undergone an intriguing evolution throughout its history, from its creation in the 1990s to its stabilization and consolidation as a symbol of national identity and Ukraine's sovereignty.

The design of the hryvnia incorporates cultural elements and representative symbols of the Ukrainian nation. Banknotes and coins feature images of historical figures, landscapes, flora and fauna of the country, as well as prominent monuments and iconic buildings. These designs not only reflect Ukraine's rich cultural heritage but also commemorate its independence and struggle for self-determination.
